When the science of roughness becomes an art

So…  if you don’t believe that repeating something simple might produce something beautiful and complex and apparently impossibly akin to natural well think again.

The following shape is based on the simple formula :   zn+1 = zn2 + c

a beautiful shape produced by

The Math's Mona Lisa (The Mandelbrot set).

So Much more can be achieved just graphically using this type of theory …

Beautiful animation of other type of fractal.

Julia fractal

Absolutely magnificent.

The amazing person who discovered these shapes known as “fractals” is Benoît Mandelbrot

This is a speech by this man and I found it particularly inspiring, next time you watch a movie like “Jurassic Park ” all the way to “Avatar” think this man made it possible together with other impressive minds that came before like Gottfried Leibniz. Iterated functions in the complex plane were investigated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by Henri Poincaré, Felix Klein, Pierre Fatou and Gaston Julia

He is in my humble opinion a person who built a bridge between the human mind and the universe around.

Also this link is impressive : iotic (just right click the page and see how small the code is for that)

Enjoy :)
